Installing MySQL in CentOS 6.5

In CentOS mysql default 6.5 Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.71, for redhat-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.1

To install MySQL in CentOS, run the following command:

yum install mysql-server

Start the MySQL Server

service mysqld start

Check the performance of the MySQL server:

netstat -tap | grep mysql
tcp 0 0 *:mysql *:* LISTEN 2529/mysqld

Add the MySQL Daemon at startup CentOS:
/sbin/chkconfig –level 345 mysqld on

Access to the database after you install MySQL in CentOS without the password for any user.

mysql -u root
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 5
