Yesterday was the second release version of the distribution Linux Mint, based on Debian GNU / Linux, – LMDE 2 (codenamed «Betsy»).
LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) – a kind of distribution Linux Mint, Debian uses a batch basis, instead of Ubuntu, traditionally used by the authors of the popular Linux-project. The developers claim that the system is slightly faster version of the original Linux Mint and uses more recent versions of packages. As a basic working environment in LMDE offers Cinnamon and MATE.
System requirements LMDE release 2 is modest: a processor x86 (32- or 64-bit), 512 MB RAM (1 GB for comfortable work), 9 GB of disk space (20 GB recommended), graphics card that supports 800 × 600 (recommended 1024 × 768), DVD-drive or USB-port.
The first release of Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) took place in 2010.
