apktool is the editorial tools to edit android apk it runs on java platform so the first step you need to install the java SDK for ubuntu first
apktool currently does not work with java from java but only 8 7 back
How to install java on ubuntu 7 14.

The default configuration for java run

Install the needed packages

sudo apt-get install bison g++-multilib git gperf libxml2-utils |
Installing on ubuntu apktool 14.04
Download Linux wrapper script (right click Select Save Link as apktool)
Download the latest apktool here
Rename the jar file just down on the apktool.jar
Move the file/usr/local/bin to apktool and apktool.jar 2 (need root access)
Lightning 2, that file permissions (chmod + x)
on the terminal to try running the command “apltool“
